I came to the United States with a dream: to build a better life and create opportunities that I did not have growing up.
At just 15 years old, I lost my father, who was the sole provider for our family. As the oldest of eight children, I had no choice but to step into responsibility early. I became a provider, a caregiver, and a role model for my siblings. While most teenagers were focused on school and friendships, I was focused on survival.
To support my family, I started selling goods in local markets and roasting fish on the streets. It was during this time that I discovered something powerful: my seasoning. The blend I created made my roasted fish stand out, and people kept coming back. Customers loved the flavor, and many asked for my secret mix. That was the beginning of what would one day become Motherland Seasonings.
Years later, I was blessed with the opportunity to come to America. I pursued my education and earned an associate degree in computer science. I worked hard for nearly a decade, building a stable career. However, after being laid off in September, I faced one of the most difficult periods of my life. Finding a new job has been challenging, but I chose not to give up.
Instead, I decided to invest in myself and turn my passion into a business. I officially launched Motherland Seasonings, obtained my health department license, and established my LLC. Despite financial challenges, I pushed forward because I believe deeply in the quality and potential of my product.
Everyone who has tasted my seasoning loves it. I am confident that Motherland Seasonings can grow into a successful brand that brings authentic flavor and culture into homes across the country.
What I need now is support; financial assistance to scale production, expand distribution, and bring Motherland Seasonings to a wider audience. With the right support, I am ready to turn my story of resilience into a story of success.
Yours truly
Edvige
